At a short distance south of the settlement, to the right of the road that descends to Kouselio, before the church of Virgin Mary (Presentation of the Virgin) the remains of ancient buildings are found. In a cultivated field and a few meters from the shore, a wall of a rectangular ground plan ancient building is preserved, having received certain retrofitting. East of it, another building of almost square ground plan is preserved, almost intact and almost in its entire height. In this building, the elaborate masonry, the use of ceramics in the joints, the original mortars as well as a series of tiles in the relief arches are even more distinct. To the east, within the same field, the tetraconch baptistery of the neighboring early Christian basilica of Kouseliο is located, as well as an underground vaulted structure, buried for the most part of its height.
A short distance from the ancient remains, near the main road, is also preserved a large counterweight of greyish limestone from an olive press, with the characteristic groove along the upper surface and the rectangular postholes on the two lateral narrow sides. Its presence testifies to agricultural activity for the production of olive oil. Livestock in the pastures of the mostly mountainous island, alongside fishing, would be some of the main occupations of the inhabitants and an important source of income, like today.
On the other side of the bay of Kouselio are found the remains of a building in which ancient architectural members have been reused. As no excavation has been carried out in the area it is hard to draw definite conclusions. Judging from the masonry and the location of all the buildings by the sea and near the Early Christian basilica of the Virgin, they are probably installations dating from the Late Roman/ Early Christian period.
